Stantec, a global leader in sustainable engineering, architecture, and environmental consulting, is hiring a Contract Review Lawyer for its Risk Management team based in Pune. This role offers an excellent opportunity for experienced legal professionals to work on global projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams across jurisdictions.
About the Role
The selected candidate will join Stantec’s global Risk Management team and play a critical role in reviewing contracts, identifying risks, and advising business leaders on legal and commercial matters. The role requires a strong understanding of professional services contracts, risk management, and project-related legal issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Review contracts for compliance with corporate standards and policies.
- Identify and communicate contractual deviations and risks to project leadership.
- Coordinate with corporate counsel across different jurisdictions.
- Develop practical solutions to resolve contractual issues on a variety of projects.
- Critically review scopes of services and commercial terms.
- Assess and communicate legal and commercial risks associated with contracts.
- Contextualize and prioritize risks based on project characteristics.
- Advise stakeholders on processes and actions to mitigate legal and project risks.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of contracting processes, resources, and precedents.
Eligibility Criteria
Mandatory Qualifications
- LL.B. or equivalent degree.
- Admitted to practice law in Pune, India.
- 5 or more years of commercial or litigation experience related to professional design services, construction law, or similar fields.
- Experience gained either at a law firm or in-house legal team.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.
