Research Assistant Position at Centre for Child and the Law (CCL)

The National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore, invites applications for the position of Lawyer under the Child Protection Programme. This is a 12-month contractual assignment based in Bangalore.

About the Role:

  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Support legal representation of children at the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), including coordination with families, lawyers, police, and stakeholders.
    • Engage in field and desk research on child rights.
    • Draft legal opinions and policy reviews.
    • Assist in organizing workshops, training, and stakeholder consultations.
    • Support other Centre-related activities and administrative tasks.
  • Eligibility:
    • Qualifications: Master’s degree in Law, preferably in criminal law, human rights law, or related fields.
    • Experience: At least 5 years of research experience and expertise in designing and implementing research projects.
    • Skills: Proficiency in English and Kannada, strong research, analytical, and organizational abilities, and experience with legal research databases.
  • Location: The role is based out of the Government Boys’ Observation Home (Madivala) and NLSIU Campus (Nagarbhavi), Bangalore.
