We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced lawyer to join our team at Indo Archaeology Research, an esteemed Archaeology-Based Research Organization. As a lawyer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring legal compliance, managing contracts, handling intellectual property matters, and providing expert legal advice to support our organization’s mission.
Responsibilities:
1. Legal Compliance: Ensure that the organization operates within the legal framework of relevant jurisdictions, including compliance with laws and regulations governing archaeological research, intellectual property, data protection, and nonprofit organizations.
2. Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents with external parties such as vendors, partners, and research collaborators.
3. Intellectual Property Protection: Develop and implement strategies for protecting the organization’s intellectual property rights, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets related to archaeological discoveries, research findings, and technological innovations.
4. Risk Management: Identify legal risks and provide proactive advice and solutions to mitigate potential liabilities, disputes, and legal challenges.
5. Research Ethics and Governance: Advise on ethical standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements related to archaeological research, including the handling of sensitive data, cultural heritage preservation, and community engagement.
6. Collaboration and Outreach: Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams of archaeologists, scientists, historians, and other professionals to support research initiatives and promote legal awareness within the organization.
7. Advocacy and Representation: Represent the organization’s legal interests in negotiations, meetings, conferences, and legal proceedings, as necessary.
8. Policy Development: Assist in the development and implementation of organizational policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure legal compliance and operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
1. LLB/ LLM degree from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with the relevant Bar Association.
2. Expertise in contract law, intellectual property law, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
4. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret and apply complex legal principles in practical contexts.
