SELECTION FOR PATENT OFFICER ON ADHOC BASIS FOR IIT HYDERABAD
Applications are invited from eligible and suitable candidates for the post of Patent Officer at IIT
Hyderabad, Kandi Campus. Terms and conditions of this recruitment process will be governed
by IIT Hyderabad. The position is on ad-hoc basis and the candidate offered the position is
required to physically report to the office on the IITH campus for the execution of the duties.
No of Vacancies: One
Emoluments: Consolidated Rs. 80,000 per month (based on experience) + incentives upto Rs.
20,000 based on achievement of set targets
Duration: 11 Months (extendable based on performance)
Job Description:
The key responsibilities include:
1. Identification of patentable works from the research activities of students and faculty of
the institute. This involves working in close cooperation with the research groups within
the Institute.
2. Create a technology assessment report based on patent search and submitting the
advice for the scope, validity, relevance and potential infringements to the concerned.
3. Drafting, filing and prosecution of patent applications.
4. Attending Pre-grant and post-grant oppositions.
5. Creating awareness on Intellectual Property Rights among various research groups of
the Institute.
6. Vetting of MoUs/NDAs etc related to R&D
7. Other related works as assigned
Eligibility and requirements:
Candidates with good exposure to research and development activities with good knowledge in
Patents Act and Rules.
1. Essential Requirements
(a) Graduation/Post Graduation in Science or Engineering or Law from a reputed
institute having Intellectual Property, Patents Act and Rules as one of the subjects
(b) Experience in the field of patent drafting, patent analysis, patent searching, and
patent examination etc. from a reputed institute for a minimum period of 6 Years
2. Desirable Requirements
(a) Research experience: 3 years or more from a recognised university or R&D institute
/Academic Institute
(b) Qualified Patent Agent
(c) Drafting experience for Patent Applications for PCT, USPTO, EP
Selection Procedure: The candidates will be shortlisted based on their application and
performance in the Interview.
