Summary of the Role:
You will be responsible for reading and interpreting case laws, creating summaries, identifying critical data points, and conducting abstraction work. This role involves ensuring high-quality standards in all research outputs and providing guidance to Junior Attorneys. You will review legal documents, verify the accuracy of research and abstractions, and conduct in-depth research as needed. You will also play a key role in maintaining the quality and consistency of the legal team’s output by conducting thorough quality assurance checks. Strong leadership, excellent research capabilities, and attention to detail are essential in this role.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct quality assurance reviews of legal research reports, memos, briefs, and abstraction work prepared by junior legal researchers to ensure accuracy, adherence to guidelines, and overall quality.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior researchers, helping to develop their research & abstraction skills and legal knowledge.
- Collaborate with the legal team to refine research methodologies and ensure consistency in the analysis and presentation of research findings.
- Conduct in-depth legal research as needed, analyzing complex statutes, regulations, and case law.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legal trends and new regulations, and communicate these changes to the team.
- Prepare detailed reports and memos summarizing research findings and recommendations.
- Organize and maintain legal research databases and files for efficient access and retrieval.
- Stay informed of best practices by attending legal workshops, reviewing publications, and participating in professional networks.
- No court appearance or client counseling
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of legal experience, with a strong focus on Case Laws and Litigation
- Possess a bachelor’s or master’s degree in law.
- Extensive knowledge of legal research tools and databases (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis).
- Excellent communication and mentoring skills, with the ability to guide and support junior team members.
- Strong research and analytical skills with a track record of ensuring accuracy in case laws/litigation documents.
- Sound critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks, including oversight of junior researchers’ work.
- Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with legal research management tools.
- Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Experience with managing and maintaining legal research databases and ensuring high standards of data accuracy.
- Willingness to work virtually or in an office setting.
