🎯 Your role
To support our continued growth, we are looking for a Legal Review Executive.
Overview:
We are seeking a enthusiastic Legal Review Executive to support our Delivery team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and summarizing criminal checks/ records applicable laws and company policies for criminal background checks.
Key responsibilities:
- Criminal Record Processing – Review and validate results of India criminal history checks obtained from police departments, courts, or authorized databases. Interpret legal terminology, identify criminal offense categories (e.g., cognizable/non-cognizable), and flag reportable cases.
- Verification & Certification – Certify completed criminal checks using the lawyer’s seal and signature to endorse legal verification of the records. Ensure the certification adheres to applicable legal standards and industry practices.
- Affidavit / Declaration Support – Draft or review legal declarations/affidavits (if needed) for internal or client documentation related to criminal background verification.
- Legal Review – Provide expert opinion on ambiguous or borderline criminal records to determine reportability and client advisories. Support the team with legal justifications in case of discrepancies or escalations regarding criminal check outcomes.
- Compliance Oversight – Ensure all checks and certifications are conducted in line with Indian laws, including the IT Act, Evidence Act, and local court procedures. Highlight legal risks or potential violations related to data privacy or misuse of criminal data.
- Confidentiality & Ethics – Uphold strict confidentiality of all applicant data and case details. Abide by the Bar Council of India’s professional conduct rules while supporting commercial background screening.
- Reporting & Support – Be available for periodic review calls or written updates as required by the company. Provide prompt clarifications on legal queries raised by internal teams or clients.
- Documentation & Archiving – Maintain soft/hard copies of all signed reports and certifications for a defined period, as per company policy.
- Training & Knowledge Sharing (optional)
- Conduct periodic knowledge sessions for internal teams to improve legal awareness in criminal case reporting.
🔍 What we’re looking for
Key qualifications and skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) Mandatory
- Registered with the Bar Council of India or State Bar Council Mandatory
- Strong knowledge of legal terminology, contract structures, and compliance frameworks.
- Proficient in legal research databases
- Skilled in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Word and Excel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a time-sensitive environment.
- Bengaluru-based applicants will be given preference.
