The legal profession has grown and expanded in many new ways and become highly competitive in these present times. In this era of globalization, industrialization, and the modernization of the economy, the law has also evolved and at present, a law student had adequate opportunities in the field of law.
Opting for law as a career is just the beginning. The journey of law will give uncountable streams of law to a student and these streams help a student to be a well-established lawyer. The law gives the understanding to choose between right and wrong to a student. But being a lawyer is not an easy task, without a lawyer delivery of justice is a superhuman task.
The skillset of a good lawyer constitutes many skills like a law student is always a student, the lawyer works as an analyser, he has good communications skills, arguments skills, etc. A lawyer must have passion for his work.
Let’s look at some courses ofthe courses of law that a student can explore concerning his career other than the most traditional stream of being an individual Advocate:-
- Assistant Lawyer – Almost every law firm needs an assistant lawyer, an assistant lawyer professionally supports his firm in terms of legal knowledge management of clients, research work. The assistant lawyer field is emerging on a very high scale nowadays. It gives wide opportunities to a lawyer for becoming a great ADVOCATE in the future.
- Arbitrator – (ADR) Alternative Dispute Resolution/arbitrator growing in numbers nowadays as people want to settle disputes out of the court to avoid the procedure of traditional litigation. Corporations and individuals both are turning towards arbitration as an attempt to solve civil disputes outside the courts.
- Content Creator – Social media is now becoming an irreplaceable part of society ; although the bar council of India had given a ban on advertisement advocacy lawyers often resort to creating online impressions through creating good legal content. Many law firms run their own law channels, blogs, and social media pages to send alerts to the youth. Only a lawyer can create good legal content.
- Business Developer – Only a lawyer understands the need of a legal business , law firms and legal start-ups prefer engaging lawyers as business development professionals, but this role has some essentials that are good communication skills and a good understanding of the market.
- Teaching – If a law student has a knack for academics, he can surely opt for a career as a law teacher, the student who has a wide knowledge of the law and have a passion to teach someone law can be a law teacher as the areas of teaching wide enough for a lawyer to be a law teacher and help give some best lawyers to the nation.
- Insolvency Professionals – In the time of the bankruptcy of a company the insolvency professionals play an important role in liquidating the entity assets and other settlement processes. The main work of insolvency professionals in strengthening the financial position of the company. If someone has an interest in insolvency laws he can take the insolvency profession as a career.
- Journalist – Media is known as the fourth pillar of the government and journalism is an undivided part of media, a lawyer can take venture in the path of legal journalism it is a perfect field for a lawyer who has an interest in current legal happenings and has their way with words can opt this stream as a career.
- Legal advisor – legal advisor is a person who advises someone who needs the guidance of an expert of the law. An advisor can help his client when he is stuck in any problem and doesn’t have an idea of what to legally do, he supports his client by providing quality law information.
- Judicial Services – a best career option for a fresh lawyer is the judiciary a person who has the enthusiasm to serve the country and provide justice to the society can go on the way of judicial services as it not only gives respect but provides other governmental perks as well.
- Corporate field – Every business or company carry their everyday practices in which legality work is involved, it has a formulation of contract and being a lawyer; one has expertise in all the legal works, work of the legal department of corporate sector needs to advise on negotiation &matter relating to mergers, one must have knowledge of drafting contract and any other legal matters, corporate field gives an immensely successful career to Cyber law.
- Cyber law – This is the field that grows rapidly in the next years as the areas of cyberspace grow the requirement of cyber lawyers is also growing rapidly. It is emerging as a vast legal stream for lawyers. As it is a new and rapid growing field.
- Human Rights Activist – A law student can become a human rights activist once he completes his graduation in law , he can work in this field with a broad scope ; governmental and non governmental organizations need such individuals as their human rights activist counsel.
Conclusively, it can be said that law is a ocean of knowledge and opportunities, one only needs hard work and decision making power to choose what he wanted to opt as a career, what he wanted to do in his life, what he can do for the betterment of the society, and how can he make things work for his favor.
If a lawyer knows all above things he can be unstoppable to achieve success in the career.
